Battery life is the headline here. Asus packed a 5000mAh non-removable cell into the Zenfone Max, well above what most phones in this range offer, so it should comfortably outlast a full day of calls, messaging and video. That capacity comes paired with fairly modest hardware though: a Snapdragon 410 chipset with 2GB RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of storage, expandable via microSD up to 128GB. The 5.5-inch IPS display runs at 720 x 1280 pixels, fine for everyday use but not sharp by today's standards.

On the camera side, there's a 13MP rear sensor with laser autofocus and dual-LED flash, plus a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. It supports dual SIM, LTE Cat4 data speeds and GPS with GLONASS, and it runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

Asus Zenfone Max price in Malaysia starts from RM605, and it's expected to launch around 15 January 2016. For the price, the battery capacity alone makes it worth comparing against similarly priced options.
