Under the hood sits a HiSilicon Kirin 910 quad-core chip paired with a Mali-450 GPU, and you get a choice of 1GB RAM with 8GB storage or 2GB RAM with 16GB storage. Either way, a microSD slot lets you add up to 32GB more if you run out of space. The 5-inch IPS LCD screen keeps things compact and easy to handle one-handed.

Camera-wise, there's an 8MP rear shooter with autofocus and LED flash, plus a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. It can record video at 1080p, which was decent for its class at launch. Android 4.4.2 KitKat runs the show, dressed up with Huawei's Emotion UI 2.3 skin on top.
